What Can Agglomeration Do For You?

There are many possible uses for agglomeration, some of which may be applicable to your operations.
The following suggestions are not all-inclusive. It is hoped that they will enable you to visualize specific applications which might improve your product or solve some health or disposal problem. The next step is to discuss you potential needs with a Ferro-Tech engineer who can add his know-how and experience to you requirements, needs and problems.

Roll Compactor & Granulator-

Dust Removal to provide a cleaner, more healthy atmosphere for workers' health. Dust might come from a variety of sources, such as a manufacturing process, grinding, storage or handling of grain or feed. Visualize this problem in connection with the manufacture of cement or asbestos, mining of coal, flour mills, dry chemicals, etc. Agglomeration of such dusts reduces them to a dust-free from which can be disposed of, recycled of processed further, and which may be reduced in volume to as little as one-fourth that of the original dust

In the refining of some minerals, reduction to finer particles is necessary to separate out the desired mineral from the ore. These particles then often must be enlarged to put them into a form acceptable to the user. The residue likewise is enlarged for safer and more efficient disposal.

Many batch processes require a uniform feed. Dust, which may become airborne, cannot be controlled or weighed properly, making the metering of the batch percentages difficult. Agglomeration before processing solves this problem.

Liquid fertilizers are most efficiently shipped in dry form, having water added at the point of use. Water dispersible granules are easier to control when mixed with water and are always dissolved faster then fine wettable powders.

Dry powdered insecticides and herbicides, sprayed from the air, are always blown away by wind currents. Pellets or crystals are more controllable without loss of effectiveness.

•Fertilizers, like tree spikes, can be made by agglomeration to release nitrogen in a planned schedule.

Products can be made more sellable or more easily handled by a customer. Consider briquetting of charcoal, coal or other energy sources for home heating or granules for the chemical industry.

•Heat treating or heat bonding often can be employed to remove unwanted chemicals at the same time that agglomeration takes place.

Recovery of many dust materials is efficient because of their value. Coal, cement, lime and similar materials are in this category. This is in addition to the removal of a health hazard and a disposal problem.
